Notes that work like chemistry
ChemNotes is more than plain text. As you write, chemicals and measurements become interactive.
Educational/reference tool. Not intended for medical, safety, or industrial decision-making.
ChemNotes is a fast chemistry notes and notation app with built-in calculations and optional PubChem lookups.
ChemNotes is more than plain text. As you write, chemicals and measurements become interactive.
Enter a common name (use a hyphen, like Sulfuric-acid) or a formula (like H2SO4) to attach a reference card with a 2D structure, formula, and key properties such as molecular weight.
Type “50 mL” or “10 mM” and it is picked up immediately. It is formatted as a token you can tap, copy, and reuse.
Link a measurement to a chemical and ChemNotes can use molecular weight to support molar-based conversions as you work.
After a calculation, you can insert the result back into your line as a new token, so everything stays in one place.
Use the built-in canvas for apparatus diagrams or reaction mechanisms, with adjustable stroke width and color.

ChemNotes is a lab notebook app that stores your notes, calculations, and drawings locally on your device. This policy explains what data may leave your device when you use ChemNotes features that fetch chemical data over the internet.
Stored on your device: Your notes, calculations, drawings, and app settings are stored locally on your device.
No developer server storage by default: ChemNotes does not require an account and does not provide a developer-controlled cloud service for storing your note contents.
ChemNotes includes ChemNet (chemical suggestions and lookups) that fetches reference data from PubChem (a public chemical database operated by NCBI [National Center for Biotechnology Information], part of NLM [National Library of Medicine]).
Important: When ChemNet is used, text you type in the note editor may be transmitted to PubChem to generate suggestions and retrieve reference information. This means any text you enter (including text that could contain personal information) may be sent as part of fulfilling this feature’s request.
Network metadata: Like any standard internet request, the receiving service may see technical information such as your IP address [internet protocol address] and may log request/visit data under its policies. Handling of that information is governed by NLM/NCBI's policies.
ChemNotes includes a setting intended to disable ChemNet (chemical suggestions and lookups). When disabled, ChemNotes is designed to reduce or stop PubChem lookups initiated by the app.
However, we do not guarantee that disabling ChemNet will prevent all network requests in all circumstances (for example, due to software defects or operating system behavior). If you require zero transmission of your text off-device, do not use ChemNet and ensure your device is offline when using ChemNotes.
You are responsible for protecting your device and any data stored on it (for example, using a device passcode, Face ID [Apple facial authentication], or Touch ID [Apple fingerprint authentication], and managing backups).
ChemNotes may offer an optional in-app lock feature that relies on Apple system authentication. This feature is a convenience feature and not a guaranteed security boundary.
If you contact the developer for support (for example by email or a support form), you may provide information such as your email address and the contents of your message. That information is used to respond to your request and provide customer support.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make changes, we will update the effective date above. Your continued use of ChemNotes after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
